Syrah, was for a long time believed to have originated in Persia, Syria, or perhaps Syracuse.
However, recent DNA analyses have shown its roots to be in Savoy (Mondeuse) and the Ardèche (Dureza).
A low-yielding variety, Syrah is grown exclusively on soils suited to its cultivation.
It is often medium to full bodied, spicy in character with delicious hints of violet, blackberry, and black pepper notes, which are both stylish and complex.
In many regions the acidity and tannin levels of Syrah allow the wines to have good aging potential.
Here we selected 3 different kind of wines produced from this grape for you to try. 2 bottles from Northern Rhone (Saint Joseph), 2 bottles from Southern Rhone (Plan de Dieu), and 2 bottles from Languedoc (Cabardes).
